Box Score GOODWELL, Okla. - Oklahoma Panhandle State University Women's Soccer team hosted Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions on Tuesday, September 28th. It was the opening of Sooner Athletic Conference play for the Aggies.
The Aggies made program history tonight with their first conference win. What made it special is that it occurred on home turf at the Anchor D Stadium in front of a large home crowd. The Aggies displayed discipline and execution on ball control as they scored 2 goals on 6 shots. The Lions were held to only 2 shots on goal on the night. The crowd saw a very in control and purposeful offense as the Aggies controlled ball position for the majority of the time clock. Sophomore
Regan Ake was 2-2 on the evening, scoring both of the Aggies' goals. Sophomore
Dajah Boykin led the Aggies with 2 assists.
Head Coach
Josh Davis was quite pleased with the team's performance this evening stating, "This group of student-athletes has really put in the work this season. They work hard every day to prepare for a match like this. The Lions were coming in with some experience and have proven to be a tough opponent. Words cannot express how proud I am of this group to battle back. They did a great job to stick to our core values and truly won as a team today!"
The Aggies move to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in conference this season, the best record in program history. The Aggies host USAO this Saturday at the Anchor D. Stadium at 5pm.
