GOODWELL, Okla. — The 2026 softball and baseball seasons for Oklahoma Panhandle State University are set to get underway shortly, along with the 2026 portions of several other Aggie athletics offerings.
Baseball, Equestrian Delayed: The opening series of the 2026 OPSU baseball season, originally set to begin Friday, has been pushed back to Sunday, Feb. 1, at the University of the Southwest. The Aggies are scheduled to play doubleheaders on Sunday and Monday, both beginning at 12 noon MST (1:00 p.m. CST).
Additionally, the first equine shows of 2026 at Texas Tech University have been postponed to Feb. 7-8 in Lubbock, Texas. The equestrian squads look to build on momentum from their last shows in November and secure individuals' spots in the regional finals.
Softball's Opening Day on Friday: The opening weekend for Aggie softball in San Antonio, Texas, is on as scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
OPSU begins the season with a premier doubleheader at No. 12 Our Lady of the Lake, with first pitch set for 12 noon. On Saturday, Panhandle State takes on Texas A&M San Antonio, looking to make a strong impression to start the year.
Picked to finish third in the Sooner Athletic Conference by the NAIA SB Podcast, the Aggies return 2025 SAC Newcomer of the Year and First-Team infielder Trinity Higgins to spark the lineup and lead the Aggies' prolific base-stealing efforts. Also back are Second-Team pitcher Marin Jacobs and Second-Team first baseman, Summer Marron, who all aim to lead the way amongst a plethora of talented newcomers for head coach Jim Walker's squad in 2026.
OPSU Athletics Gearing up for Spring Competition: OPSU track & field continues to be in full swing with its indoor season, featuring a heavy slate of competitions throughout February before the outdoor campaign kicks off on March 12.
Men's golf is scheduled to tee off for the spring season on Feb. 9-10 at the "4 Him" Classic, hosted by Dallas Christian College. Rodeo gets things going again at Kansas State University from Feb. 19-22, while the shooting sports squad returns to competition in Arcadia, Oklahoma, at the OSU Cowboy Shootout on Feb. 28 and March 1.
