DUNCAN, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State men's golf team teed off for the first two rounds Monday of the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship at The Territory Golf Club, a par-72, 7,062-yard course. Through 36 holes, the Aggies are in sixth place of seven teams, highlighted by a strong second round.

Led by
Worathan Thammachokecharoen and
Thantup Saengvut, OPSU followed up its opening-round 327 with a 311 over the next 18 holes.

Thammachokecharoen, a junior, carded rounds of 76 and 75 while recording a team-best five birdies Monday. He leads the Aggies and is sitting tied-21st out of 43 individuals.

Saengvut matched his fellow Thailand native with a 75 in his second round, which featured an even-par front nine.

One stroke behind at 14-over par for the tournament, and in a tie for 28th individually, is
Paul Mercado. The Alamo, Texas, native posted consecutive scores of 79.

Caden Lamm rounded out the team scoring for the Aggies, improving by eight strokes in his second round for an 82.

The Sooner Athletic Conference boasts four teams ranked inside the NAIA's Top-25. No. 2 Oklahoma City leads the way in the championship thus far at six-under par, No. 8 Science & Arts is at three-over par, and No. 9 Texas Wesleyan remains in contention at seven-over.
