OKLAHOMA CITY — Avery Brown was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the second time in three weeks, announced Tuesday by the conference office recognizing performances spanning March 30-April 5.
The Little Elm, Texas, native garnered the honor behind a terrific showing April 3 at the South Plains College Alumni Elite Invite. Her day included a program-record mark of 10.41 meters in the shot put, and Brown nearly broke another school record by notching a distance of 34.20 meters in the discus. Those PRs complemented a hammer throw of 40.04 meters, the Aggies' best mark of the season.
The award for Brown is the fourth weekly conference honor of her career, including three total between the indoor and outdoor 2025-26 season. Aggie Athletics has combined for 21 SAC Athlete of the Week honors across all sports during the academic year.
Brown and the Aggie throwers return to action Saturday at the Tabor College Invitational, while the OPSU track & field runners are set to compete Thursday and Friday at West Texas A&M University for the Jo Meaker Classic.
