Hall of Fame
The Perry, Okla. native was recruited to, then, Panhandle State College by head football coach Oscar Williams in 1968; coming from a small town, Dolezal felt it was the perfect fit. He recalls starting out as a tailback his freshman year when he carried the ball over 200 times, and the toll it took on his body. In 1968 Dolezal earned 959 yards rushing, averaging 4 yards per carry. That same season he passed for 869 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Over the next three years the team transitioned to a more pro-style offense and went from running to throwing the ball. Dolezal earned All-Conference honors and was recognized as one of the all-time top Oklahoma Collegiate Conference quarterbacks averaging 209 yards in 39 games.

Dolezal was drafted as a free-agent to the Dallas Cowboys after graduating from OPSU in 1972 and attended training camp with the team. From there he went on to pursue his master's degree and was commissioned into the U.S. Army during that time. After fulfilling 3 months of basic branch training he continued his education at UNLV where he earned his master's in physical education. With a B.S. in math from OPSU and a master's in P.E. under his belt, Dolezal moved back to Oklahoma and taught mathematics and coached football, mostly at the high school level.

His continued involvement with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes throughout the years brought him to his current home in Estes Park, Colo. The FCA holds camps in Estes Park and Dolezal had always enjoyed that part of the country. He and his wife Patti have spent the past 18 years making the mountains their home. Dolezal currently teaches and coaches in the nearby town of Lyons, Colo.

Dolezal said that he was extremely humbled by his entry into the Aggie Hall of Fame and that he "played with many great teammates."
