The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Rodeo Teams continued their remarkable performance in the 2023-2024 season, and they've left no doubt about their championship ambitions. In a strong display of talent and skill, the Women's Team has dominated the rodeo arena, securing 1st place in their competition in Stillwater this last weekend.
Junior Parker McIntyre continues to shine in Goat Tying and kept her 3-week winning streak alive this weekend. In the long round, she showcased incredible speed, taking the top spot with a lightning-fast 6.3 seconds. In the short round, she maintained her momentum, clocking in at 8.3 seconds, securing 7th place. Parker clinched 1st place in the average, leaving the competition in the dust.
McKenna Brennan, a seasoned OPSU senior, demonstrated her expertise in goat tying as well. With a long round time of 7 seconds, she claimed 4th place. In the short round, she continued to impress securing a 4th/5th place split with a 7.9-second time. Brennan split a remarkable 3rd/4th/5th place in the average, proving her consistency and determination.
Sophomore Kiley Slavin also showcased her tenacity in the goat tying event. Her long round time of 7.2 seconds earned her 5th place, while she clocked in at 9.6 seconds in the short round, securing 8th place in the short round and the average.
Kody Cavender impressed the crowd with his talent in Saddle Bronc Riding, scoring a remarkable 79 points to win the long round. In the short round, he continued the momentum with 71 points, landing him in 6th place. In the average, Cavender clinched 2nd place, solidifying his reputation as a rising star in rodeo.
Ryler Allred, a senior in Steer Wrestling, made his mark with a long-round time of 5.1 seconds, securing 10th place. In the short round, he displayed his skills with a 6.6 second time, landing him 8th place in the round and the average.
In Team Roping, the dynamic duo Riley Roderick and Cason Webb showcased their teamwork. Their long round time of 7.9 seconds earned them a 6th/7th place split in their round. Unfortunately, the duo experienced some tough luck in the short round with a no-time which took them out the average.
The OPSU Rodeo Team phenomenal performance is setting the tone for an exciting and competitive season. As they head into the last fall rodeo, the team has a strong presence in the regional standings in multiple events. With their dedication, talent, and grit, they've not only dominated this fall, but have also left a lasting impression in each event they competed in.
