Goodwell, OK – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Rodeo teams had a strong showing this past weekend at the College Rodeo in Colby, Kansas. The women's team dominated the competition, securing a first-place overall finish, while the men's team ended up in a respectable tie for fourth, fifth, and sixth.
Standout performances from Camree Slavin earned her the title of Women's All-Around Champion for the weekend. Slavin had an impressive run in the breakaway roping, roping her calf in 2.7 seconds during the long round, which earned her a split for 9th-14th place going into the short round. Slavin faced a tough calf in the short round. Despite her efforts, she received a no-time.
Slavin teamed up with Cade Bell in the team roping event. They clocked in at 8.8 seconds in the long round, placing them 8th heading into the short round. The duo improved their performance in the short round, posting a 7.4-second run, which elevated them to second place in the average.
Bell also showcased his versatility by competing in the saddle bronc riding. He earned 66 points in the long round, tying for 4th-5th position. Bell improved his score to 78 points in the short round, finishing 3rd in the average.
Wyatt Aldrich put in a solid performance in the bareback riding event, earning 58 points in the long round, which secured him the 8th spot going into the short round. However, Aldrich did not score in the short round after a tough match up with a challenging horse.
On the women's side, Parker McIntyre had a stellar weekend in the goat-tying event. McIntyre posted a 7.9-second run in the long round, tying for 4th-5th place. She followed that up with a 7.8-second run in the short round, finishing 2nd in the average overall.
