Goodwell, Okla. – Over the weekend, the Oklahoma Panhandle State University men's and women's rodeo teams competed at the Southeastern Oklahoma State University College Rodeo in Durant, Oklahoma. Despite some tough breaks in the short rounds, the Aggies delivered commendable performances across multiple events.
On the men's side, Wyatt Aldrich covered his horse in the bareback riding. Aldrich scored 59 points in the long round, earning him a spot in the short round, splitting 5th and 6th place. However, he faced a challenging horse in the short round and did not receive a score.
In saddle bronc riding, Cade Bell put on an impressive performance in the long round, scoring 64 points and securing the number four spot heading into the short round. Bell also faced difficulty in the short round and did not receive a score.
The OPSU women's rodeo team displayed their competitive spirit throughout the event. Parker McIntyre was a standout in the goat tying. She turned in a time of 7.4 seconds in the long round, securing her the number one position going into the short round. She followed up with a time of 9.4 seconds in the short round, placing her fourth overall in the average.
In breakaway roping, Helen Poer delivered a solid run in the long round with a time of 3.2 seconds, putting her in a tie for 5th-7th place heading into the short round. Teammate Jessie Stillings was right behind her, turning in a time of 3.3 seconds to split 8th-10th place in the long round. Unfortunately, both Poer and Stillings fell short in the short round and received no times.
Coach Rose spoke about the teams' performance this weekend: "We had some good performances. We need to get in some good practices and take care of business at OSU."
