Goodwell, OK - The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggie men's and women's rodeo teams kicked off their 2024-25 season with a strong showing at the opening rodeo in Manhattan, Kansas.
Wyatt Aldrich made his presence known in the saddle bronc riding, posting a 67-point ride in the long round. His score secured him the 8th spot going into the short round, but despite his best efforts, Aldrich was unable to add to his tally, facing a tough horse in the short round.
Cade Bell and Jaedyn James both covered their horses in the long round of the saddle bronc riding, with Bell splitting 6th and 7th and James securing the number 10 spot going into the short round. Unfortunately, both riders came up empty-handed in the short round. Bell, however, was able to shine in another event, securing 7th place in the long round of the steer wrestling.
Porter Hall had a standout weekend, making a strong showing in both the tie-down roping and team roping. Hall earned key points in the long round, securing the number 4 spot in both events heading into the short round.
On the women's side, Camree Slavin made her mark in the breakaway roping, posting a 2.8-second run in the long round. Her efforts earned her a tie for 10th and 11th going into the short round. However, despite her efforts, Slavin came up empty-handed in the short round, resulting in a no time.
Coach Rose reflected on the team's performance, stating, "We got off to a slow start this weekend, but we are going to get in a good week of practice and be ready for the next rodeo. We are looking forward to the season ahead."
