COLORADO SPRINGS, Col. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State shooting sports team took seventh place at the 2025 ACUI Collegiate Fall West Coast Conference Championships, held Nov. 14-16 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. 16 teams with at least five members participated, with Fort Hays State winning the competition.

Cameron Smith highlighted the weekend's efforts by claiming the Aggies' first perfect score of the season in an event. Smith grabbed a share of first place in American trap, successfully hitting all 100 targets.

The senior claimed seventh place out of 59 individuals on the overall men's leaderboard, breaking 413 clays out of a possible 450 across six different shooting categories. To help him get to that score, Smith led the Aggies in doubles skeet, American skeet, sporting clays and super sporting to go with his perfect American trap score.

Next up on the HOA men's leaderboard for OPSU was Zane Doehring, who finished 28th with a score of 371. The Frederick, Colorado, native was consistent throughout the weekend, finishing second on the team to Smith in American skeet, sporting clays and super sporting.

Senior Rhett Green also shot well, leading Panhandle State in doubles skeet by smashing 47 of 50 targets. That score placed him just one behind the co-champions in the event, as he took tied-fifth in the category en route to taking 39th in the HOA.

Aiding OPSU's efforts were Zach Willis and Luke Yelton, who took 46th and 47th overall, respectively. The junior and freshman recorded scores of 94 and 91 in American skeet, respectively, with Willis also claiming the squad's second best scores in doubles skeet and doubles trap.

Freshman Taylor Blickenstaff rounded out the Aggies' appearances on the HOA leaderboard, coming through in double trap with a score of 42 out of 50 targets and in American trap with a total of 86.

Fellow freshman Austin Tipton placed in the top four on the Aggies in doubles skeet, super sporting and American trap, highlighted by his score of 94 in trap shooting.

What's up next: OPSU looks to build on its momentum from recent competitions and continue to improve heading into the 2026 spring season.
