SAN ANTONIO — The Oklahoma Panhandle State shooting sports team rounded out its season March 16-18 at the ACUI National Championships, held in San Antonio, Texas.
Competing in Division 3 out of four total divisions present at Nationals, the Aggies took 27th overall in their class. OPSU's final points count was 2,224 out of 3,000.
Senior
Cameron Smith led the Aggies in the HOA, breaking 467 out of 600 clays. The Covington, Oklahoma, native finished first on the squad in skeet with 96, doubles skeet with 81 and super sporting with 77.
Luke Yelton also had a strong week, posting an overall score of 439. Yelton finished top-three on OPSU in doubles skeet, super sporting, trap and sporting clays.
Just behind was
Austin Tipton, who finished the competition having connected on 433 targets. Tipton was strong in both sporting clays and doubles trap, leading the team with scores of 73 and 72, respectively.
Kaden Richardson was fourth on the Aggies in HOA at 416, highlighted by taking second on the squad with a 71 in sporting clays.
Taylor Blickenstaff also shot well with an overall score of 413, and he finished second for OPSU in skeet, hitting 80 targets.
Rhett Green was the final Aggie over 400, taking second on the squad with his 80 in doubles skeet.
Demontray Pritchett had an excellent showing in trap with a score of 92 to top all Aggies in the category.
Eric Barlow rounded out the team's efforts by hitting 334 targets overall.Â
