NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — Behind
Worathan Thammachokecharoen's all-tournament effort, the Oklahoma Panhandle State men's golf team climbed one spot from its opening-round placement to finish third at the "4 Him Classic," held Monday and Tuesday at Iron Horse Golf Course.
The Aggies' two-round total was a 63-over par 623, highlighted by a second-round 308 that saw them jump Collin College, which was in first place after day one. Jacksonville College wound up winning the event with a total of 608, and Louisiana Christian finished as the runner-up, just six strokes ahead of Panhandle State.
Thammachokecharoen led the Aggies in Monday's round with a four-over 74 on the 6,743-yard, par-70 course. He stayed consistent Tuesday in gusty conditions, firing a 75 to finish fourth overall and make the all-classic team.
Thantup Saengvut joined him inside the top-10, coming back from an opening-round 78 with a 73 on Tuesday, the lowest single round for the Aggies in the two-day event. An even-par front nine highlighted his scorecard in the second round.
Paul Mercado shot 81-80 to take third on the team both days, while
Takudzwa Basopo's 82 and mid-year addition
Caden Lamm's 80 counted toward the team score on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
What's up next: The Aggies' next scheduled tournament is the "Top of Texas" hosted by Wayland Baptist at La Paloma Golf Club in Amarillo.
