NEWTON, Kan. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State men's golf team shot its third consecutive round of 17-over, 305 on Tuesday to close out the Central Plains Invitational hosted by Kansas Wesleyan. OPSU's three-round total of 915 saw it place sixth of eight teams.
Thantup Saengvut wrapped up his career-best tournament with another under-par round, leading the Aggies with a score of 71. His three-round total of four-under-par, 212 (70-71-71) was good enough to finish third in a strong field of 42 individuals.
"Thantup played great all three rounds shooting under par every round," head coach
Zach Homer said. "I couldn't be prouder of him. Sand Creek Station is a good test of golf, especially with the conditions we played in this morning."
Worathan Thammachokecharoen played the third round in even-par 72, finishing his tournament at four-over and in 11th place overall.
Paul Mercado joined the two Thailand natives with a round in the 70s at seven-over 79 to wrap up his tournament. He was steady throughout the day with 12 pars.
Takudzwa Basopo also had his score count Tuesday with an 83.
What's up next: The OPSU men have a week off before traveling to Hobbs, New Mexico, on Oct. 6-7 to play at Rockwind Community Links.
